It seems that money can't buy you love or a good broadband connection in this country. A new study has revealed that even some of the UK's most sought-after property, such as locations in Henley-on-Thames and Marlow, suffer from some of the worst fixed line broadband coverage in the country.
According to research conducted by comparison site
Top10-Broadband, connections in Marlow typically come in at under 500Kb (0.5Mb) per second. This compares with the UK average of 3.6Mbps (note: recent stats suggest it may now be closer to 4.3Mbps).
As a result, although residents are likely to be among the best-connected celebrities around with positively glittering contact books, it’s likely that many will struggle to even send e-mails to friends and family. Furthermore, they will also be experiencing website loading times that would try the patience of even the most saintly personal assistants of badly behaved stars.
The suggested solution is for local residents to adopt a Mobile Broadband connection instead, such as from Vodafone , Three (3) , T-Mobile , Orange or O2 . Most apparently have reasonable coverage of the same area, though Mobile Broadband does still suffer from latency and connection stability woes. There are also issues with blocked services (VoIP etc.) and image compression.
