orange logoISP Orange UK (France Telecom) has issued its latest third quarter results to the end of September 2009, which shows that the provider is still shedding broadband subscribers and has dropped from a total of 954,000 in Q2-2009 to 899,000 in Q3.

Orange has made a number of attempts to turn its fortunes around during the past 12 months, claiming dramatic broadband service and support improvements. They also recently began offering faster 'up to' 20Mbps speed packages. Sadly many customers remain dissatisfied.

3rd quarter 2009
Revenues from the United Kingdom decreased to 1.277 billion euros on an historical basis, down 15.3% of which 8.9% related to the unfavourable impact of the pound sterling exchange rate. On a comparable basis, the decline was 7.1% and largely reflected the impact of regulatory measures.

Revenues from Personal Communication Services decreased 6.8% on a comparable basis. Excluding the impact of regulatory measures, third quarter revenues fell 1.9%, after rising 0.1% in the second quarter. The decline in revenues from voice services was partially offset by:

** the steady growth of data services, which represented 25.5% of network revenues in the third quarter of 2009;
** the recovery in the customer base in the third quarter, with 257,000 new customers (net of contract terminations), including 194,000 contract customers.

Revenues from Home Communication Services decreased 12.7% on a comparable basis, reflecting the declining ADSL customer base.

For those still interested, Orange's remaining Dialup ( Narrowband ) subscribes have reduced to just 69,000, which is significantly down from the 93,000 they had in Q2.

I had a problem with them, so I called support, told them I was dissatisfied. Their response was "If you want to leave then leave" So I did. Its no wonder they are losing customers.

This is good news.
I still only pay £15.00/month for their package of Line rental 8mb broadband (I only get 3-4 as I live so far from the exchange) and all my call ares free (apart from usual numbers)
The less subscribers, the more real life speed at peak times.
