uk broadband parliamentThe UK Secretary of State for Culture, the Olympics Media and Sport (DCMS), Jeremy Hunt (MP for South West Surrey), says he has made "good progress on [his] DCMS manifesto commitments". He claims to have secured enough cash to tackle the country's broadband "not spots" and fund his limited rural superfast broadband pilots.

Jeremy Hunt blogged:

"Treasury support secured to deal with "not spots" and rural superfast broadband pilots. More details to be announced at an industry forum next week - this will be a vital part of our economic growth strategy."

Sadly no further details were revealed. Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK), the delivery vehicle for the governments broadband policies, will hold a special industry event on 15th July next week where it aims to provide further details, announce several pilot schemes and discuss the best way forward.

"Treasury support secured to deal with "not spots" and rural superfast broadband pilots."

Does that mean the government is going to fund this?

Technically speaking it has already been promised as part of the 2Mbps USC and you note that the "superfast" remark is for the handful of pilot schemes and not the country as a whole.
