t-mobile uk mobile broadbandMobile operator T-Mobile UK, which in recent times has perhaps become better known for restricting its Mobile Broadband data allowances instead of raising them (here), will from next month launch a new "truly unlimited internet" service with "no fair use limits or run on rates" for Smartphone users.

ISPreview.co.uk understands that the new deal will be available to any customers that purchase a 24 month contract or whom are already paying £25 or more a month for their mobile service. The new deals are due to surface between 1st and 4th July next month.

The move is likely an attempt to take on Three (3) UK, which last year went in the opposite direction to most by launching The One Plan with "all-you-can-eat data". The deal had previously only come with a 1GB usage allowance.

Until recently the mobile industry had been extremely worried about low revenues and growing data usage, which prompted a crackdown on "unlimited" services. That certainly didn't last long.

Don't believe any words from T-Mobile as they cut my usage allowance from 3GB to just 500MB per month as they don't care about my contract was 24 months as they just cut my internet data allowance and refuse to cancel my contract. Don't trust T-Mobile.

Yeah, but on giffgaff you can get unlimited internet with unlimited texts and 250 minutes for £10 a month, so why woudl someone pay them £25?

I dont, know but to have to already pay £25 to get it, seems very stupid.

@VM

er no. If you took contract out after they changed it, then you bought 500MB. If you took it out before the change, then they actually backtracked, and said you can keep 3GB. BTW thats not a limit, but at teh 500MB of 3GB point you are slowed down only, and get no additional charges

Charlie

The small print stated here:
Mobile Internet:
Mobile Internet is free until 03 JUL (with a fair use of 100MB a day). After that date it will be charged at 20p a day. If you use less than 1MB/day you'll pay less than 20p and if you go over 20MB you'll be charged extra at 20p/MB.

Free calls is only from giffgaff to giffgaff otherwise it will be charged at other network:

Calls to other UK mobiles, landlines (starting 01, 02, 03)
and call forwarding (per minute) 8p

Pretty misleading really.

GiffGafff runs on the O2 network, so presumably no streaming. Which would be why you would need unlimited Internet in the first place, really...

@charlie

Some people value a quality network, not the Elastoplast and string that is giffgaff's (read: O2) network. One where you get a decent speed and coverage.

T-Mobile and 3 have actually started to use this new thing called 3G, whereas O2 appears not to. At least that seems to be the case from their utterly dire 3G coverage.

Anyone who seriously thinks that O2 is a credible network if you actually want to use data needs their head examined.

How long will O2's unlimited internet last? The instant it becomes a burden on O2's network (and that's not asking for much), O2 will tell the "independent" giffgaff management to cut it out.

It'll still be T-Mobile or 3 for me, I think.

You have misunderstood the Giff Gaff data plans,

The 100Mb limit per day is when you dont have a bundle (known as "Goodybag" with GifGaff...)

With a Goodybag you have truly unlimited data to your handset, note the technicality of 'handset' as you're not supposed to tether to a laptop but how can they stop you? Most phones have a built in hotspot feature now...

Giff Gaff is great value but I cant see it being around in a couple of years.

GiffGaff have a FUP of 20GB even though they dont like making it public. And they dont allow tethering

Three is unlimited and does allow tethering. Lets hope t-mobile will too.

I just dont trust t-mobile about thir new 24 month plans so called truly unlimited internet plan, free fone with only 300 miniutes x network! n if want more miniutes then you'll have to pay for the fone, i think three offers much good deals then t-mobile.
