UK ISP Virgin Media has revealed that its Spotify based broadband music streaming service will be a lot cheaper than Spotify's own independent 'Premium' package, although the trade-off is that Rights Holders will require the cable operator to get tough on internet piracy.

Media and Internet giant BSkyB ( Sky Broadband ) has reported sharp growth in its latest quarterly report, which saw the operator add an additional +174,000 broadband ISP subscribers to reach a new total of 3,335,000.

The TalkTalk Group has released its latest set of quarterly financial results to the end of June 2011 and revealed another decline in its broadband ISP subscriber base, which has reduced from 4,199,000 in Q1-2011 to 4,173,000 (-26,000) now.

British Telecom ( BT ) is now home to a growing total of 5,832,000 retail broadband ISP subscribers in the United Kingdom (UK). Its superfast 40Mbps broadband service ( FTTC ) can now reach 5 Million premises and over 200,000 BT customers have taken the related BT-Infinity product.

Ofcom, the United Kingdom's telecoms regulator, has revealed in a new study that broadband ISPs in the UK deliver a national average internet download speed of 6.8Mbps. Sadly most continue to advertise service speeds that are well over more than half of what they can actually deliver.
