gold starBroadband providers Zen Internet and Be Broadband have come top in Which? magazines latest consumer study of ISP quality, value, performance and general customer satisfaction. By contrast both AOL UK and Orange can be found languishing at the bottom (i.e. worst).

Which? Recommended Providers must score well for customer service, ease of setup, connection speed, reliability and technical support – and receive an overall score of 70% or more. Only Zen Internet , Be Broadband , Eclipse Internet , Utility Warehouse , GreenBee and PlusNet made the grade.

Which? Magazine said:

"Zen Internet is the best – it has retained the top spot in our survey for the fifth time in a row. It might not win hearts and minds when it comes to value – but it was awarded five stars for every other aspect of its service and received an overall customer score of 84%."
(Customer Satisfaction) - ISP Name
(84%) - Zen Internet .
(81%) - Be Broadband .
(77%) - Eclipse Internet .
(75%) - Utility Warehouse .
(75%) - GreenBee .
(72%) - PlusNet .
(56%) - PostOffice .
(56%) - Sky Broadband .
(55%) - Virgin Media .
(54%) - Madasafish .
(51%) - Demon Internet .

(45%) - KC (Karoo) .
(39%) - TalkTalk .
(37%) - Supanet .

Sadly Zen appears to have lost a few points since the last study was conduct earlier this year (here) when they were rated as 88%, meanwhile Be Broadband has risen from 75% and is now threatening their lead.

QUOTE"Recommended Providers must score well for customer service, ease of setup, connection speed, reliability and technical support"

God only knows how some scored what they did.

Conclusively showing this is another bunch of nonsense reading. There is no way they match Zen on quality or technical support, BE phone support is overseas and from reading around some VOIP system that has a habbit of cutting people off.

If dodgy call quality and foreign support is the future and what people want from support of broadband in the UK the future is bleak.

Use both the two top at home/work no complaints, but your mileage may vary.

I've been with Be for about 4 years and have not had any issues at all. When I have contacted the "foreign support" they have been brilliant!

Still stand by what i said.

This site Zen are ranked considerably higher than BE
(Zen 9th... Be 20th errrr)

DSLzone Zen outrank BE (and always have even with Befans ranking them more than once a month).

Thinkbroadbands compare tool Zen ranked roughly equal on speed and zen beat them in reliability and customer service scores and have for months.

Nothing more needs adding. Ill take peoples opinions from 3 sites over another nonsense report.

Im also shocked at how well Eclipse and Sky did considering their ratings on the above 3 mentioned sites.

@koshone.... Have you ever contacted BE support by phone?? I can say i have and it wasnt great (to be polite, cut off numerous times). A neighbour tells me their private forums have numerous old issues of ongoing problems with stupidly long times to fix issues, if ever.
(peering, routing, IWF and more that have been going on for months).

ZEN fanboy above is just about at bursting point to defend his ISP lol... get a grip! - bit hypocritical to call people "Fanboys" when your obviously one yourself.

Personally I think Tiscali are the best, my line constantly slowed down and was throttled to death - you cant beat a service like that! brilliant, Tiscali get my vote!! ha ha ha

@NO NAME Im not with Zen and staff of this site are more than welcome to check the IP im posting with and have with every news item on here to see what ISP im with.

Im actually currently with BE not that you will believe it. Im happy to prove that though if you want to still argue.

Im also about to leave them for FTTC. I also cant wait to get away from BE with their constant Linx peering issues, naff support constant issues that dont get fixed and complained about by users. Ill be glad when im not paying them any further and away from fanboy idiots like yourself that pop up on sites defending BE, think they do no wrong and randomly attack people that dare say otherwise. Nasty overhyped company with more problems than perfection.

Oh and people can see how useless BEs phone support is by calling 0808 101 34 30 and selecting option 6 for tech support. Start a stop watch and see how long it takes for the call to cut you off entirely or start cutting in and out (line going totally silent for a few seconds at a time).

They will then see whos a fanboy and whos honestly assessed a company on the merrits this report rates it on.

Oh and people note i didn't call anyone a fanboy in either of my first 2 posts......

Until NO NAME decided to chuck that phrase in my direction. He/she probably ranks them more than once a month for the positive also, that's what Befans do... Hohum. Join an ISP and its userbase like that at your own peril people.
