gold starcheapest uk isp plusnet broadbandPopular consumer affairs magazine Which? has, for the first time, published the results of an independent customer satisfaction survey that examined UK superfast broadband ISPs. The results show that PlusNet managed to beat out their competition and achieve an impressive 84% customer satisfaction rating.

This is the first time that Which? has surveyed its members about superfast broadband and follows only a few days after PlusNet also achieved 'Recommended Broadband Provider' (4th place) status with a score of 74% in the same magazines survey of traditional internet access services (here).

Jamie Ford, CEO of Plusnet, said:

"To be recognised for both our value products and be deemed market leading for superfast broadband is fantastic. This is an independent survey with the findings fully dependent on the feedback of actual customers so it is very gratifying to see we are pleasing our customers."

At the time of writing we've still been unable to get a summary of results for the other superfast ISPs, although we are chasing this and will update with those as soon as we have something. Incidentally PlusNet also managed to come top in last month's annual uSwitch Broadband Awards 2012 (here).

With only a little over 400,000 fibre connections provided by BT is it any wonder that Plusnet came out top?

Should have waited until 2015 to do this type of survey, not in its infancy.

@Sledgehammer - The survey is all relative. 84% satisfaction relates to customers who decided to respond and of those, customers who were also happy with the service.

It's simple mathematics; irrespective of the number of respondees, 84% of them were happy.

Yes BUT such a small number is a sham, percentages carry no weight. It's numbers that count and seeing most of the people that have a fibre connection are either BT or Plusnet the whole exercise is worthless.

actually all of the people that have a fibre connection are BT or BT - as Plusnet is owned by BT, and 99% of Fibre to the home is BT in any case.

Remember though that is "Superfast" (sic) which includes those copper connections masquerading as 'fibre optic broadband' which is 99.9% of Infinity and 100% of Virgin.

They are now coining "Ultrafast" for connections of 100M or more. God knows what they'll call 1G connections
