prices court london ukhyperoptic logo uk ispHyperoptic, a fully fibre optic ( FTTH ) and 1Gbps capable broadband ISP that launched towards the end of last year (here) via a limited deployment at the riverside development of Prices Court in Wandsworth (London), has today confirmed the forthcoming launch of its business service and hinted towards their future coverage expansion.

The ISP's Managing Director (MD), Dana Pressman Tobak, told ISPreview.co.uk last year that they intended to announce their expansion strategy "early in 2012" (Hyperoptic Interview). At the time we were told that the providers focus "remains in central London" and they were seeking to establish their brand and services prior to expansion.

Deployments in Battersea, Docklands, Holborn, Shepherds Bush, Vauxhall and Westminster are already known to be underway. In addition to that the ISP also revealed its grander ambition to deploy into further UK cities during 2012 but has, until now, kept very tight lipped.

Now a new article on V3 states that Hyperoptic's chairman and founder, Boris Ivanovic, intends to launch a new range of business-only services in the coming months. Furthermore Ivanovic also revealed that between 200 to 300 more residential projects were "in the pipeline" and would be announced throughout the year. We wanted to know more.

Hyperoptic's Spokeswoman told ISPreview.co.uk today:

"As discussed last year, Hyperoptic plans to announce its strategy for UK expansion in 2012. With regards to targeting the business market, we are still in the process of productisation so have not yet formally announced our business services, but the feedback we are getting from our residential customers and the quality of network means that there is a natural alignment - so it’s definitely going to be a priority for us this year."

The announcement comes hot on the heels of a recent expansion by BT's competing FTTP service into High Rise Buildings (here), which looks set to attack Hyperoptic's urban niche. So far BT's solution has only focused on the Isle of Dogs (East London) area but work is already underway to reach a further 1,000 buildings via their pilot.

On the other hand Hyperoptic's ability to offer cheap residential services, which start at just £12.50 inc. VAT per month for a true 20Mbps broadband connection (Hyper-lite) and go up to £50 for a top-end 1Gbps link (Hyper-sonic), could prove to be tough competition.

You love men of fibre? You love men who like to keep themselves regular confused

Or do you mean fiber, as in fiber optics? Either way, I wont judge

There's a reason why they're so cheap and why it won't work. Look at their website and you'll see all images still bear the watermarks of istockphoto and shutterstock. That means they haven't paid any fees (basicaly they've stolen the photos!) and even worse they've really badly photoshopped them in an attempt to remove the watermarks.

If they can't afford the royalties of buying 10 stock photos (normally about £1-£5 each), then I can't see how their business will survive more than a few months.

It's ridiculous, wish I could paste a screenshot here!
