Avoid plusnet - terrible service and broken promises!!

Thought I’d pop in and give you news. Got back from hospital this morning.

On the ISP front, my speeds, on checking today, have remained up. A friend who came in to collect email and snail post tells me
it seems to have been like that for the last week. Bob will have more info, I’m sure.

Neighbours popped in to see if I was okay and both report their own phones and broadband has been so much better this week.
Does seem that reported BT work on lines locally may have found, and hopefully cured a line fault problem. Who knows. Just
guessing. But that has always been my bet.

Bob, on your earlier comment, as I got the notification for the engineers' visit by email don’t think it unreasonable that I replied by email. Never got a text or any request to phone, so I notified well within 36 hours when my hospital visit came through.

Anyway, end of report. Thanks Bob, fruth4free et al

Hello, hope you are all well.

I'm going to call on the expertise of people on this site. I've noticed that the BT Speed check site gives readings, which, due to my lack of knowledge, not sure what they mean.

I get these readings

Download speed 13.40 Mbps

Upload speed .97 Mbps

Ping latency (ms) 37.50

Thanks in advance. Have a great weekend everybody

Mike

The readings should speak for themselves.

The download speed is your throughput and gives an indication of the speed you can download data at e.g. viewing webpages, downloading files, downloading email, streaming video etc.

The upload speed is the speed you're able to upload data at e.g. sending emails, uploading photos to Facebook, uploading content to an FTP site/website etc.

Ping latency is the round trip time it takes for a packet of data to travel to an externally hosted server and back again. Gamers and people who make use of time-sensitive services like VoIP and VPNs tend to pay close attention to this figure. At 37.5ms, yours is fine.

Hope that helps.

Hi Bob, hope you are well.

Speak for themselves, eh. My confusion was because the download and upload figures were so different. But thanks for the
explanation. As for 'ping latency!" didn't mean a thing. Didn't suggest anything, either. But anyway, as you say, mine looks fine

Take care and good to talk again

Mike
