ISPreview - Invasion of Online Privacy

How would you feel if you know your every move was being tracked?

Invasion of Online Privacy

"most half intelligent criminals would use free E-Mail services (Hotmail) and not there own ISPs"

It's obvious really, make it seem as though the bill is specifically for the monitoring of E-Mail and throw everybody off the real truth. The truth that the RIP Bill is actually not just for E-Mail and indeed they never said it was, but cleverly made us all think that. It actually opens a door to all kinds of monitoring systems, such systems that won't need to be disclosed in the future and can just be installed.

So not just E-Mail anymore, but almost everything could be monitored, from the activity of a specific IP (ISP client) during its login period to what services you used and whom you talked to. This is an extremely serious situation and more people need to be made aware, the government has just sold our online privacy down the line.

So in conclusion, monitoring is a good idea but because nothing is 100% secure we can't trust those who operate it to do a proper job. Regulation is needed and a regulation we can count on to protect the innocent and uphold the rights of the individual by law. Sadly the general feeling is that our government hasn't listened or simply doesn't want to hear.

Once a bill has become law then overturning it is like trying to move a mountain, the best we can do is add to it by campaigning for more regulation. ISPreview will shortly be introducing a 'petition system', bet you can't guess what the first one will be for =).
