Business ISP WarwickNet, which was last week acquired by CableCom (here), has today announced that their alternative fibre optic based fixed line broadband network has been expanded to cover the Elm Farm Industrial Estate in Bedford.

Cityfibre has announced that their 1Gbps capable fibre optic (FTTP) broadband network in the city of Aberdeen (Aberdeen Core), which is already being used to connect local businesses, is being extended to connect over 100 public buildings (schools, libraries etc.).

The UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, has today launched a new Industrial Strategy that will see additional public investment from a new Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) being put towards the development of future 5G Mobile technology and faster broadband, among other things.

Cable provider Virgin Media has today decided to significantly slash the cost of their superfast and ultrafast solus (standalone) broadband packages for the first 12 months of service, but the new prices will only be available to order until 30th January 2017.

Budget ISP Plusnet has today slashed the prices of their unlimited ‘up to’ 38Mbps and 76Mbps “Fibre” (FTTC) based superfast broadband packages for the first 18 months of service, which reduces the monthly pricing (inc. Line Rental) to just £23 and £28 respectively for new customers.

The telecoms regulator has today hit Mobile Network Operator EE (BT) with a fine of £2.7 million after they were found to have overcharged around 40,000 subscribers for calls to the company’s own “150” customer services number. It’s not the first time EE has had to pay off an Ofcom fine.
