The UK ISP division of the Post Office has recently revealed that customers of their broadband and phone bundles are set to face another price hike, which will be introduced from 2nd November 2020. The biggest change is that the standard monthly price for home phone line rental will jump by 30.43% from £11.50 to £15.

Good news. Mobile operator Three UK appears to be holding to their September 2020 launch window (here) for eSIM support on their network (4G and 5G) and have now added an eSIM Support and Activation page to their website. But there’s still no firm word on whether or when Apple Watches will be supported.

Mobile operator and UK ISP EE have just launched their own range of Home Broadband packages on Openreach’s new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network. Most of the prices tend to mirror their existing FTTC and G.fast based plans, except the top 900Mbps+ tier.

Mobile operator Three UK has today announced that, as part of their effort to “deliver the UK’s fastest 5G network” and upgrade 4G connectivity (mobile broadband), they have signed a new £100m investment deal with SSE Enterprise Telecoms to upgrade their fibre optic capacity across 250 towns and cities.

Mobile network operator Three UK has launched a new discount on their 4G based home broadband with unlimited data plan (here), which cuts the monthly price from £22 to £15 per month for the length of their 24-month minimum contract term (a saving of £168 across the contract).

UK ISP Quickline, which is part of the Bigblu group, has today won another £8.1m contract that will see them extend their fibre optic fed Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network to cover a further 8,000 premises (homes and businesses) in rural parts of Lincolnshire with “superfast” (30Mbps+) and “ultrafast” (100Mbps+) broadband.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has announced that the Ex-BT CEO and former trade minister, Lord Ian Livingston, will lead a new “Telecoms Diversification Task Force” to help diversify the UK’s telecoms (mobile and broadband) supply chain and reduce reliance on high-risk vendors like Huawei.

BT Wholesale, which supplies broadband and data connectivity services to UK ISPs, has today launched a new Ethernet Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) service for businesses that offers uncontended connections, “ultra-low latency“, installs within 5 days (existing ONT, otherwise c.11 days) and speeds up to 1Gbps.

Openreach (BT) has announced that the option of faster service repairs (Service Maintenance Level 3 and 4), albeit at extra cost, will be added to their ultrafast-capable hybrid fibre G.fast and standalone SOGEA (SOGfast) broadband lines for UK ISPs from 21st October 2020.

The state aid supported Superfast Northamptonshire (SFN) project has announced that UK ISP Gigaclear’s current roll-out contract (Phase 3) has been extended, which will see the provider build their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to 700 more rural premises than planned.

The state aid supported West Midlands 5G (WM5G) programme has today announced 7 UK-based consortiums, which will each share funding of £2.4m to support the development of new 5G (mobile broadband) based products and services to help “transform transport across the region.”
