Openreach (BT) has confirmed to ISPreview.co.uk that they will start to introduce their new wall-mounted NTE5C Master Socket from the end of this summer 2016, which could make life a lot easier both for consumers who like to tinker and for the operator’s own engineers.

UK ISP BT Publish Speedtests of their Smart Hub WiFi Router vs Rivals

BT has published a number of WiFi speedtests for their new Smart Hub broadband router, which pitted the kit against rival hardware from TalkTalk, Sky Broadband, Virgin Media, Plusnet and EE. The results appear to support the ISPs claim that their router “provides the most powerful wi-fi,” at least in comparison to the kit bundled by their rivals.

Central Bedfordshire Finish Phase 1 Roll-out of Superfast Broadband

The £12m+ Central Bedfordshire Broadband project in England claims to have completed its first Phase 1 contract with Openreach (BT), which has so far expanded the availability of superfast broadband (24Mbps+) to around 90% of the region and benefited an additional 16,422 premises.

BT has published their latest quarterly results (calendar Q2 2016), which saw their total base of retail broadband customers top 9,117,000 (up by +76K in Q2 vs 1.045m in Q1) and 4,257,000 of those make use of their FTTC/P based Infinity superfast broadband service (up by +181K vs +214k in Q1).

North Yorkshire UK Sets Out Revised Superfast Broadband Plan

A new contract worth £5 million has been signed with Openreach (BT) to expand the operator’s roll-out of “fibre broadband” (FTTC/P) services, which will cover another 10,000 homes and businesses in the city of Leicester (Leicestershire, East Midlands of England) over the next 2 years.
