BT Bring 300Mbps FTTP Broadband to 800 Birmingham UK Businesses

Telecoms operator BT might have scrapped the original UK roll-out target for their “ultra-fast” 300Mbps capable (30Mbps uploads) Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) technology (here), but that doesn’t mean to say the deployments have stopped and now another 800 businesses in Birmingham look set to benefit.

BT and EE’s home broadband packages generated the highest level of customer gripes during the final quarter of 2013. The data, which comes from Ofcom’s quarterly consumer complaints report, also revealed that TalkTalk were the worst for fixed phone providers, while Orange UK came bottom for mobile and BT also failed at Pay TV.

Sckipio Predicts Ultrafast 1Gbps G.fast Broadband Deployments for 2015

Israel-based modem maker Sckipio has predicted that pressure from rival cable platforms could push telecoms operators like BT in the UK to begin rolling out next gen G.fast (aka – FTTC2 / ITU G.9700) broadband technology, which might deliver speeds of up to 1000Mbps over some hybrid fibre optic and copper lines, much sooner than expected.
