Broadband ISP WightFibre, which is deploying a 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network across the Isle of Wight (South Coast of Hampshire, UK), has launched a “Connected Communities Programme” to help “fully or part fund” the installation and ongoing costs of bringing fibre to community hubs and charitable organisations.

The pace of Openreach’s (BT) commercial deployment of “gigabit-capable” Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP technology in Northern Ireland continues to impress, with the operator today confirming that they’ve just passed 360,000 premises (up by 100,000 since January 2020 alone) and intend to go much further.

The Policy Exchange, which is an educational charity that also claims to be the UK’s leading think tank, has published a new report that calls on the UK Government to help the post-COVID19 recovery by, among other things, investing more into “gigabit broadband” and reducing VAT from 20% to 15%.. again.

Broadband ISPs iDNET, Cerberus Networks and Trunk Networks (Leetline) have all recently joined the small but growing number of UK internet providers that are now able to offer packages based off Openreach’s (BT) new 550Mbps (75Mbps upload) and 1000Mbps (115Mbps upload) consumer Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) tiers.

The Thurrock Council has announced that a contract for delivery of the £4.436 million state aid funded Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) build across South Essex, which aims to connect 129 public sector sites across Basildon, Brentwood, Castle Point, Rochford and Thurrock with gigabit capable broadband, will soon be awarded.

We thought we’d found them all, but we thought wrong. Another full fibre broadband ISP has surface today called YouFibre, which appears to be deploying their first gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across the small town of Peterlee in County Durham (England).

Earlier this week Hull-based ISP KCOM launched a cheap £25 for 30Mbps offer (here) to help entice new customers on to their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. Now Pure Broadband, which uses the same network, is giving existing users a way to get the same deal.

Fixed wireless access provider Orbital Net (Vfast) and new entrant MGMT have separately today both revealed that they’re developing plans for future roll-outs of a gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, albeit in different parts of England and Scotland. Both intend to target areas that are currently poorly served.

Hull-based UK ISP KCOM has launched a cheaper Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband package (it’s actually more of a special offer on an existing plan) to help broaden their appeal, which will give new customers an unlimited 30Mbps (15Mbps upload) service from just £25 per month (normally £40).

Belfast-based UK ISP Fibrus, which recently began the £85m+ roll-out of a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband network in Northern Ireland and aims to cover 145,000 premises by around 2024 (here), has now committed to help ensure that 100% of homes can access such services by the end of 2025.

New UK ISP People’s Fibre, which earlier this year revealed that they intended to deploy a 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network (starting in North Wales), have abruptly pulled out of a planned roll-out in Deeside due to Openreach’s rival full fibre plans “directly blocking both our progress and investment.”

New customers looking to take out a rolling monthly contract for Hyperoptic’s service, which has deployed their “full fibre” (FTTP/B) broadband ISP network to well over 400,000 UK premises (mostly large apartment blocks), may like to know that they can how benefit from a free 3 month speed boost as an added incentive.

Hull-based UK ISP KCOM, which covers a big chunk of East Yorkshire with their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, has secured an additional 2 year funding facility from Lloyds Bank worth £30m. The extra investment will help expand their network into more of East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

Broadband ISP TalkTalk UK has informed ISPreview.co.uk that they intend to start offering ultrafast Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) packages via Openreach’s national network from July 2020, which follows a limited six month long customer trial that began last December 2019.
