Internet provider Gigaclear, which specialises in deploying ultrafast 1000Mbps (Megabits per second) capable fibre optic broadband (FTTP) networks into some of the most economically challenging rural parts of the United Kingdom, have secured another £30 million from investors to help dramatically increase their network coverage.

Towards the end of last year Gigaclear announced a new plan to roll-out their 1000Mbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP/H) broadband network to several thousand homes and businesses in a number of rural Northamptonshire villages (East Midlands of England) by the end of 2017. The good news is that this installation work has now started.

BTOpenreach’s state aid supported plans to roll-out a fibre optic cable through their existing cable ducts in order to help bring superfast broadband connectivity to parts of rural south Wiltshire in England, specifically the Dun Valley and surrounding areas, have been dealt a blow due to several key ducts being blocked by silt.

Gigaclear, an independent fibre optic (FTTP) broadband ISP, has recently become the latest Internet provider to announce that their prices are rising by 4.8% (RPI + 2% at the time of calculation) from 1st January 2015, which in fairness is the first time they’ve increased their prices in roughly four years.
