Sky (Sky Broadband) has released their latest batch of Q1-2015 (calendar) results since they merged with Sky Italia (Italy) and Sky Deutschland (Germany), which reveals that they added +100,000 broadband subscribers for UK and Ireland in the quarter to total roughly 5.53 million (stable from the +106k added in Q4-2014 and up from +75k in Q3-2014).

According to Sky, which through its debt collection agency BPO have been pursuing one deceased customer for an outstanding payment of £62.25 (TV service), the answer is two years.

Consumer magazine Which? has today published the results of their latest Q1 2015 reader survey of broadband ISP satisfaction, which found that customers of John Lewis’s broadband division and Zen Internet were the most satisfied with their service. The telecoms regulator has today published their latest Q1-2015 report into the real-world performance of the largest fixed line broadband ISPs and their customers across the United Kingdom, which found that the average download speed has increased by 21.93% over the past six months to top 22.8Mbps (NOTE: Most of this boost came from urban areas, with rural and suburban being fairly flat).

Cable operator Virgin Media, which likes to think of itself as a premium provider, has heavily criticised rival ISPs like Sky Broadband and TalkTalk for offering aggressively cheap “free broadband” promotions. The Liberty Global owned operator warned the situation was “completely paradoxical and ironic” because it risks damaging the case for investment in future upgrades.
