The Sky-owned broadband ISP and UK video streaming provider, NOW TV, has today finally added the popular SyFy TV channel to their platform. The new channel is available to those who include an ‘Entertainment Pass‘ for £7.99 per month into their monthly subscription.

The BBC has announced that their video streaming iPlayer service will, from Sunday 10th December 2017, release the full TV series of Blue Planet II in 4K (UltraHD) and High Dynamic Range (HDR) video quality as part of an initial trial. But you’ll need a good broadband connection and the right kit to view it.

One of the most popular broadband-based unlimited Movie and TV video streaming services, Netflix, has increased the price of their HD quality Standard Plan and 4K friendly Premium Plan for new customers by 50p and £1 respectively. In fairness, their last increase was in 2015.

The English Premier League has won a new High Court Order in London this week that will require broadband ISPs in the United Kingdom to block servers that are hosting “illegal streams” of its football matches, specifically those involving the entire 2017/18 Premier League season.

Internet provider TalkTalk appears to be making a more aggressive move to grab a bigger share of the premium Pay TV market today by reducing the price of their broadband based triple-play TV bundles and cutting the price of the Sky Sports and Sky Cinema add-ons by 75% and 50% respectively.

Customers of the Sky owned NOW TV video streaming service will be hit by a price hike of 14.3% on 15th August 2017 when the monthly cost of the provider’s TV Entertainment Pass rises from £6.99 to £7.99. The good news is that NOW TV Combo (Broadband, Phone and TV) users aren’t affected.

A BBC commissioned ComRes interview of 1,000 adults who are regular viewers of Premier League Football has revealed that 47% have used their broadband connections to stream live matches from pirated sources (e.g. unofficially modified Kodi boxes or “illegal” steaming sites).

Telecoms and broadband giant BT has boosted their premium TV credentials today by acquiring the rights to broadcast all of the European Rugby Champions Cup and the European Rugby Challenge Cup matches live in the UK and Ireland, which will start from the 2018/19 season and run until at least 2021/22.

A new survey from YouGov has suggested that around 4.9 million of the United Kingdom’s broadband connected adults use pirated TV streaming services via platforms such as “illegal Kodi boxes, Amazon Fire TV Chipped Sticks, and illegal streaming apps on smartphones and tablets.”
