Rural focused network builder and ISP Voneus, which currently aims to cover 350,000 UK premises via both their gigabit fixed wireless access (FWA) and Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband networks, has today secured a further £25m investment boost from Global Connectivity PLC (G-CON).

Rural focused network builder and UK ISP Voneus has announced the start of a new 1Gbps full fibre (FTTP) broadband roll-out across West Devon and East Cornwall in England, which began after their latest fibre cabinet was installed in the village of Bere Alston. More villages are expected to follow over the next “few months“.

The Australian-based financial services firm Macquarie Group and UK Government have jointly announced a new £12bn private investment in “sustainable infrastructure“, which among other things includes a plan to help spread “super-fast wireless broadband and ultra-fast fibre” (FTTP) across more parts of rural England.

A new survey from UK ISP Voneus, which is based off data gathered from 3,000 people who purchased a broadband plan (from any ISP) within the last 12-months, has found that 43% could not identify their package’s upload speed. Uploads were also found to be one-third as important as download speeds when selecting a plan.

Residents in the rural Hartlepool borough village of Dalton Piercy (County Durham), which is home to almost 300 people, can now access faster broadband speeds of up to 45Mbps after UK ISP Voneus deployed a new Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network. Previously, some locals often struggled to get fixed line speeds of above 1Mbps.
