The Community Broadband Scotland (CBS) scheme has released a grant of £30,400 that will be used to upgrade the rural Marykirk.com fixed wireless broadband network, which has already connected 80 premises along the South Aberdeenshire and North Angus border in Scotland.

Wireless ISP Luminet has teamed up with Cambridge Communication Systems (CCS) to roll-out a new small cell backhaul and enterprise network across London, which will deliver speeds of up to 1Gbps (Gigabit per second) and support backhaul for 4G and future 5G mobile data networks.

Recently we reported on a new fixed wireless ISP called BWiFi (here), which was set to launch a superfast broadband (50-75Mbps) service to help poorly served parts of South East London (e.g. Rotherhithe). Sadly a legal spat with BT has forced the provider to change name to Bkonex and delay its launch.

The Hayton Parish Council in Cumbria has criticised local wireless ISP Solway Communications after the provider allegedly failed to honour a pledge to withdraw its claim on a number of postcodes in the Parish, which has prevented Openreach (BT) from building a new “fibre broadband” (FTTC) cabinet in the area.
