The Hampshire Superfast Broadband<\/span><\/a> project in England has revealed a roll-out plan (locations and time-scales) for their new extension contract with BT<\/a>, which will push superfast broadband (24Mbps+) out to another 34,500 premises (“at least<\/em>” 95% of the local population) by “mid 2019 or earlier<\/em>“.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Hampshire County Council are currently on-target to achieve their original 90% coverage goal with BT<\/a> by the end of 2015, which will put 75,000 premises within reach of the operator’s “fibre broadband” (FTTC<\/a>\/P) network. The current figure stands at 65,000 so it shouldn\u2019t be long.<\/p>\n

In the meantime the project has also been working on their Broadband Delivery UK<\/a> based Superfast Extension Programme<\/strong> contract, which was signed at the end of last year (here<\/span><\/a>) and aims to reach another 34,500 premises (more than 95% coverage). One of our readers (Peter) has now notified us that a rough full roll-out plan has just been published on the project’s site.<\/p>\n

Phase 1: January 2016 – December 2016<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

During this delivery period we will be providing fibre to over 7,000 premises in parts of the following exchange areas:<\/p>\n

Alresford, Basingstoke, Cadnam, Chineham, Dummer, Harestock, Hook, Hythe, Micheldever, Monk Sherborne, Odiham, Romsey, Sparsholt, Sutton Scotney, Totton, Twyford, Winchester<\/p>\n

Phase 2: July 2016 – June 2017<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

During this delivery period we will be providing fibre to over 9,100 premises in parts of the following exchange areas:<\/p>\n

Bassett, Bentley, Braishfield, Burghclere, Burley, Bursledon, Chandlers Ford, Cosham, Emsworth, Eversley, Fordingbridge, Frensham, Hamble, Hartley Whitney, Havant, Hayling Island, Headley, Headley Down, Heckfield, Highclere, Hindhead, Kingsclere, Liphook, Liss, Martin Cross, Moorhill, Mortimer, Newbury, Passfield, Petersfield, Ringwood, Rockbourne, Rowlands Castle, Rownhams, Silchester, Tadley, Whiteparish, Yateley<\/p>\n

Phase 3: January 2017 – December 2017<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

During this delivery period we will be providing fibre to over 9,100 premises in parts of the following exchange areas :<\/p>\n

Phase 5: January 2018 – September 2018<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

During this delivery period we will be providing fibre to over 10,100 premises in parts of the following exchange areas :<\/p>\n

Abbotts Ann, Alresford, Andover, Ashurst, Basingstoke, Cadnam, Chilbolton, Chute Standen, Dummer, Fawley, Hatherden, Hook, Hurstbourne Tarrant, Hythe, Itchen Abbas, Kings Somborne, Linkenholt, Lockerley, Long Sutton, Longparish, Lyndhurst, Micheldever, Oakley, Overton, Owlesbury, Preston Candover, Romsey, Sparsholt, St Marybourne, Stockbridge, Totton, Turgis Green, Twyford, West Wellow, Weyhill, Whitchurch, Winchester<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Once everything is complete an additional 97,000+ premises <\/strong>will have gained access to “superfast broadband<\/em>“, which should bring the overall total of Hampshire homes and businesses with access to 24Mbps+ speeds to 570,000 (probably more if you include sub-24Mbps areas [raw fibre footprint]).<\/p>\n

Interestingly the latest contract is said by the project’s website to be supported by funding of around \u00a316.45 million, which is less than the \u00a322 million (\u00a318.4m public + \u00a33.8m BT<\/a>) stated in the original December 2014 contract announcement. The completion date of September 2018 is also far earlier than the mid-2019 target, but they might just be allowing time for delays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
