This has also affected its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a> superfast broadband plan.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The major upgrade, which is designed to improve the ISPs capacity, resiliency and support new features (e.g. IPv6 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a> superfast broadband services), will now begin around the <strong>middle of June 2012<\/strong> and continue on for <strong>50 weeks<\/strong> (i.e. just under 12 months) until everyone has been migrated across to the new network.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>BEBroadband Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>For some time now, we\u2019ve been working on a major project to overhaul BE\u2019s \u2018core\u2019 network (the bit that we own, as opposed to the part we rent from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>), principally to enable the introduction of more advanced services, increase the bandwidth (across the core part of our network) and help prepare us for transition to IPV6. It will also increase the resiliency of our network, helping to minimise the number of customers affected when, from time to time, we experience service outages.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As we are effectively building a new \u2018core\u2019 network, we\u2019ll need to migrate everyone across from the existing network, the result being a small amount of downtime to the Broadband service, and a change to everyone\u2019s IP addresses. We realise this is an inconvenience, and so will be doing our utmost to minimise any impact this might have on your service<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Most of BE&#8217;s packages came with a <strong>StaticIP<\/strong> address and as a result those users will need to ensure that the firmware of their BE Router has been upgraded (those with a Technicolor 582n BE Box should be fine as they are), although anybody with a <strong>DynamicIP<\/strong> address won&#8217;t need to do anything. Further details are now being emailed to affected customers.<\/p>\n<p>According to BE the migration process will support both NEW and OLD Static IP addresses for 30 days, which should give customers plenty of time to move across. Thanks to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beusergroup.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">BE Usergroup<\/a> for the heads up on this.<\/p>\n<p>Regular readers might recall that BE Broadband and parent ISP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/o2uk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">O2<\/a> UK recently delayed their plans to launch a full superfast broadband (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a>) service until <strong>2013<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2012\/04\/uk-isp-be-broadband-and-o2-delay-launch-of-superfast-broadband-to-2013.html\" target=\"_blank\">full details<\/a>), which is partly because the core network upgrade would ideally need to be completed first.
