{"id":10982,"date":"2016-01-20T17:13:28","date_gmt":"2016-01-20T17:13:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=10982"},"modified":"2016-01-20T17:13:28","modified_gmt":"2016-01-20T17:13:28","slug":"cityfibre-complete-extension-of-fttp-broadband-network-in-kirklees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2016\/01\/cityfibre-complete-extension-of-fttp-broadband-network-in-kirklees.html","title":{"rendered":"Cityfibre Complete Extension of FTTP Broadband Network in Kirklees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the end of 2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">Cityfibre<\/a> announced their plan to extend an 80km pure metro fibre optic Public Service Network (PSN) in Huddersfield, Kirklees (West Yorkshire, England) to cater for local businesses and happily, after 10 months of construction, the operator has now completed it.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kirkleescore.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Kirklees CORE<\/strong><\/a> is now able to offer symmetric broadband speeds of 1000Mbps (1Gbps) to local firms via <strong>Fibre-to-the-Premises<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a>) style connectivity. As before this is a demand-led deployment and over 400 businesses have already registered their interest in receiving the service, with dozens due to be connected over the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time the new network will also continue to provide services for 176 Kirklees council sites, including government offices, schools, youth centres and council departments.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Neil Aspin, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">CityFibre<\/a>\u2019s Kirklees Rep, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>We are delighted that construction work is complete on the Kirklees CORE and that the first businesses and council sites have already been connected. Finally Kirklees\u2019 business community can enjoy connectivity that\u2019s both ultrafast and reliable \u2013 vital for the growth of private and public sectors alike.
