{"id":11091,"date":"2016-02-04T13:28:11","date_gmt":"2016-02-04T13:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=11091"},"modified":"2016-02-04T13:29:33","modified_gmt":"2016-02-04T13:29:33","slug":"vodafone-uk-fixed-broadband-users-creep-up-to-89000-as-4g-surges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2016\/02\/vodafone-uk-fixed-broadband-users-creep-up-to-89000-as-4g-surges.html","title":{"rendered":"Vodafone UK Fixed Broadband Users Push to 89,000 as 4G Surges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mobile operator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> UK has today published their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vodafone.com\/content\/dam\/vodafone\/investors\/financial_results_feeds\/tradingupdate_31december2015\/q3-15-16-trading-update.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">results<\/a> to the end of last year (financial Q3 15\/16), which saw their fixed line broadband customers increase by +14k to total 89,000 (up from +5k added in the previous quarter) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> cover reach 79% of the UK (86% using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ofcom\" target=\"_blank\">Ofcom<\/a>&#8217;s definition) with 6.3 million subscribers.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At this point we should say that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a>&#8217;s new home broadband (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> Connect<\/strong>) service only became a truly national proposition in October (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2015\/10\/vodafone-expand-home-broadband-and-phone-to-22m-uk-premises.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>) and the operator hasn\u2019t done a huge amount to promote it. Many of the customers also come from businesses or LLU lines via third-party ISPs, although we suspect that they might have benefited from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a>&#8217;s turmoil a bit.<\/p>\n<p>The important news is that their fixed line broadband base appears to be going in the right upwards direction, although it&#8217;s still a long way from the dizzy quarterly increases of +130k from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> and +144k from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/bskyb\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Sky Broadband<\/a> that have also been reported this week.<\/p>\n<p>Naturally Vodafone&#8217;s focus remains very much on their core mobile business, which added around 1 million additional subscribers (lower than the prior two quarters). We&#8217;ve also pulled some other interesting statistics out from the results (below).<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/wp-content\/gallery\/2016-internet-statistics\/vodafone_q4_2015_results.gif\" alt=\"vodafone_q4_2015_results\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Sadly there&#8217;s no update on their plans to launch a <strong>Pay TV<\/strong> product, although from prior results we know that it is expected within the next 3-6 months.
