Elsewhere their cheaper to setup <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a>-Start service is now moving out of pilot and being launched on 4th May 2016.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The GEA-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a> Stop \/ Start service was first unveiled in 2014 as part of a trial (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/08\/bt-openreach-makes-faster-activate-fttc-broadband-lines.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). In short, lines that have previously had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a> broadband and which were later &#8220;<em>stopped<\/em>&#8221; (e.g. when you move out of a house and cancel your contract) can be &#8220;<em>Started<\/em>&#8221; again like a new line because the jumpers will still be present.<\/p>\n<p>Lines activated in this way are quicker to setup than a normal <strong>PCP-Only<\/strong> (self-install) connection and cost \u00a332.52 +vat, which is cheaper than the standard PCP-Only install price of \u00a349. The capability was already rolled out across the UK as a pilot in January 2015, so today&#8217;s news isn&#8217;t much of a change.<\/p>\n<p>We further note that if an ISP orders a PCP-Only FTTC install and a &#8220;<em>Stopped<\/em>&#8221; port exists then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a> automatically delivers that order as a &#8220;<em>Start<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BTOpenreach has today advised ISPs of a reduction in the price of energy usage per kWh from \u00a30.1215 to \u00a30.1174 for all comingling products utilised for LLU, Access Locate and Access Locate Plus.
