{"id":12857,"date":"2016-11-08T11:01:49","date_gmt":"2016-11-08T11:01:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=12857"},"modified":"2016-11-08T11:01:49","modified_gmt":"2016-11-08T11:01:49","slug":"sse-telecoms-7-year-network-sharing-deal-updata-capita","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2016\/11\/sse-telecoms-7-year-network-sharing-deal-updata-capita.html","title":{"rendered":"SSE Telecoms in 7 Year Network Sharing Deal with Updata and Capita"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The enterprise division of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssetelecoms.com\" target=\"_blank\">SSE Telecoms<\/a> today claims to have shaved two years off their on-going &#8216;<em>Project Edge<\/em>&#8216; fibre optic network expansion in the United Kingdom, which has been achieved by signing a 7-year network sharing deal with Updata and Capita plc.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At present around 265+<strong> Point of Presence<\/strong> (PoP) across the United Kingdom can offer access to the operator&#8217;s 10Gbps (Gigabits per second) capable &#8220;<em>enterprise-class<\/em>&#8221; fibre optic and Ethernet network, which is already being used by 300+ IT \/ telecoms service provider customers and covers about 250,000 business postcodes.<\/p>\n<p>However the new deal will effectively double the number of business postcodes covered to 500,000 (adding 350 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> exchanges to their network footprint) and they claim that this should &#8220;<em>reduce the cost of [our Project Edge] network expansion by at least 50 percent<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Colin Sempill, MD at SSE Enterprise Telecoms, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is extremely exciting to be announcing such a significant agreement to the IT &amp; telecoms market. Network and infrastructure sharing models like this are commonplace in mobile telephony markets, but very unusual on this scale in fixed line telecoms.
