Pressure from social media and the ‘Stop Funding Hate<\/a>‘ campaign, which is encouraging a boycott of news media and organisations that “demonise foreigners and minorities<\/em>“, appears to have resulted in broadband ISP Plusnet<\/a> pulling their advertising from The Sun’s website.<\/p>\n

Last year similar pressure resulted in another broadband provider, The Phone Co-op<\/a>, agreeing not to advertise their services with the Daily Express, Sun and Daily Mail newspapers (either online or offline), although in fairness the ISP also said that they’ve “never advertised in any of those publications.<\/em>” Lego has given their support to the campaign.<\/p>\n

Now Plusnet<\/a> appears to be doing the same after a social media backlash criticised their promotions on The Sun’s website (here<\/a>), although the response doesn’t offer an outright commitment not to promote in related newspapers ever again. The campaign is now calling on Tesco Mobile<\/a> to follow by Plusnet’s example.<\/p>\n
