The ISP has now confirmed this &#8220;<em>large-scale update<\/em>&#8221; and revealed some of its planned improvements.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a> TV Player<\/strong> app has tended to receive mixed ratings (<a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/gb\/app\/talktalk-tv-player-watch-movies\/id402426509?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.blinkbox.tablet.live&amp;hl=en_GB\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>) and their earlier <strong>TV2Go<\/strong> app was even worse (<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.talktalkplc.tv.tv2go&amp;hl=en_GB\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). So a change was long overdue and the ISP has now moved to improve matters by extending their partnership with CSG International and integrating the digital cloud-based \/ SaaS (Software as a Service) platform <a href=\"http:\/\/ascendon.csgi.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ascendon\u2122<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We note that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vm\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Virgin Media<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/threeuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Three UK<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> also use technology from the same company, so it&#8217;s easy to see why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a> chose to go down the same path. The provider claims that this update will benefit all <strong>1.3 million<\/strong> of their TV customers by offering a &#8220;<em>more streamlined platform, to make it easier for customers to find everything they want to watch in one place<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently subscribers will also benefit from several new app features, such as the ability to pre-order films and a new &#8220;<em>Season Pass<\/em>&#8221; feature (this provides access to multiple box sets in a single purchase). However TalkTalk declined to offer any further details and stated that more information would be released in the &#8220;<em>coming months<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Aleks Habdank, Managing Director of TalkTalk TV, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is an exciting new partnership for TalkTalk TV and one that will enable us to accelerate our mobile viewing offering. The integration of the Ascendon platform complements a number of recent innovations aimed at delivering a faster, more intuitive and seamless TV experience.<\/p>\n<p>We led the market by being the first provider to roll out the Next Generation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/youview\" target=\"_blank\">YouView<\/a> [broadband IPTV platform] upgrade, which the majority of our customers are already enjoying, and earlier this month, TalkTalk was named TV Provider of the Year in a public vote.
