{"id":1373,"date":"2012-08-01T08:25:48","date_gmt":"2012-08-01T07:25:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=1373"},"modified":"2012-08-01T08:26:36","modified_gmt":"2012-08-01T07:26:36","slug":"avanti-uk-given-green-light-to-launch-hylas2-broadband-satellite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2012\/08\/avanti-uk-given-green-light-to-launch-hylas2-broadband-satellite.html","title":{"rendered":"Avanti UK Given Green Light to Launch HYLAS2 Broadband Satellite"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Avanti Communications UK has just been given the green light to launch its second broadband <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/satellite\">satellite<\/a> (<strong>HYLAS 2<\/strong>) into space, which will be sent aloft within the next couple of days aboard Arianespace\u2019s heavy-lift <strong>Ariane 5<\/strong> rocket from <strong>French Guiana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;<em>Highly Adaptable<\/em>&#8221; (aka &#8211; HYLAS) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/satellite\">satellite<\/a> is primarily intended to expand the operators coverage into the <strong>Middle East<\/strong> and <strong>Africa<\/strong>, although it should also boost Europe&#8217;s existing rural broadband availability (download speeds of up to 10Mbps+) and add some much needed redundancy into Avanti&#8217;s network.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterdays successful <strong>launch readiness review<\/strong> means that the Ariane 5 rocket will today be rolled out from the Spaceport\u2019s Final Assembly Building to the ELA-3 launch zone. The launch itself is then expected to take place at between 8:54pm and 9:51pm (GMT) tomorrow (2nd August 2012), when it will be accompanied into orbit by the <strong>Intelsat 20<\/strong> spacecraft (dual payload).<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to stress that any mission of this nature can carry some risk of loss, as a result we&#8217;ll have more coverage of HYLAS 2 after we know that it&#8217;s made the trip safely into orbit.
