{"id":13880,"date":"2017-05-09T13:52:55","date_gmt":"2017-05-09T12:52:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=13880"},"modified":"2017-05-09T13:59:44","modified_gmt":"2017-05-09T12:59:44","slug":"o2-uk-launches-eu-mobile-roaming-no-extra-cost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2017\/05\/o2-uk-launches-eu-mobile-roaming-no-extra-cost.html","title":{"rendered":"O2 UK Launches EU Mobile Roaming &#8220;at no extra cost&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mobile operator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/o2uk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">O2<\/a> has today become the latest to confirm that existing subscribers will, effective from 15th June 2017, be able to use their 2G, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/3g\">3G<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> Pay Monthly, Pay As You Go and Business tariff&#8217;s inclusive calls, texts and data bundles while travelling around Europe &#8220;<em>at no extra cost<\/em>.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The change, which reflects the EU&#8217;s new telecoms regulation, covers all 47 countries that exist inside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/o2uk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">O2<\/a>&#8217;s &#8220;<em>Europe Zone<\/em>&#8220;. However it should be noted that Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Jersey, Monaco and Switzerland aren\u2019t included for PAYG customers, although they can access these destinations at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/o2uk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">O2<\/a>&#8217;s standard European rates or via the O2 Travel Bolt On.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile Pay As You Go \u2018\u00a330 Big Bundle\u2019 customers can only use up to 10GB of their 20GB data allowance while roaming.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Europe Zone&#8217;s 47 Countries<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Austria, Azores, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar (UK), Greece, Guadeloupe, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Martinique, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion Islands, Romania, Saint Barthelemy, Saint Martin (French), San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands and Vatican City. Destinations outside the EU\/EEA are also included \u2013 Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, Monaco and Switzerland.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Customers should expect to receive a text about all this on <strong>15th May 2017<\/strong> and it&#8217;s worth remembering that every operator will need to adopt the measures, much as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> has already done (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2017\/05\/ee-uk-launches-eu-mobile-roaming-customers-no-extra-cost.html\">here<\/a>). Mind you it remains to be seen whether free EU roaming will survive the on-going <strong>Brexit<\/strong> process past 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Separately O2 has also recently launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/wifi\">Wifi<\/a> Calling, which gives customers the option of making and receiving calls over Wi-Fi even if they can\u2019t connect to the mobile network, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> Calling that allows customers to harness clearer calls and better indoor coverage via their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> network.
