{"id":14353,"date":"2017-07-27T10:02:54","date_gmt":"2017-07-27T09:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=14353"},"modified":"2017-10-20T09:01:25","modified_gmt":"2017-10-20T08:01:25","slug":"ee-come-top-uk-4g-network-availability-speed-new-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2017\/07\/ee-come-top-uk-4g-network-availability-speed-new-report.html","title":{"rendered":"EE Come Top for UK 4G Network Availability and Speed in New Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The latest H1 2017 report from RootMetrics has revealed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> mobile performance and availability of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/o2uk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">O2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/threeuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Three UK<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> across England, Wales, Scotland and N.Ireland. Overall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> takes the crown for Mobile Broadband speed and coverage, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/threeuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Three UK<\/a> won for reliability and calls.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The report is based upon the results of approximately 646,230 test samples gathered via modern Android Smartphones, which were collected at various different times of the day and night while the RootMetrics team drove 21,562 miles across the United Kingdom (including visits to 628 indoor locations).<\/p>\n<p>Apparently the testing covered roadways, big cities, small towns and rural areas, although sadly they don&#8217;t split the results out by rural and urban areas or clarify the split of collected sample sizes for each.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Scott Stonham, GM of Europe for RootMetrics, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These latest results have really shaken things up and show the increasing competitiveness in the UK, particularly over the last six months. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> continues to lead the way, but Three and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> are close behind. What is clear is that each operator showed strong performance in at least one particular country, while nobody was able to sweep the board at the four-nations level.<\/p>\n<p>UK consumers have strong mobile options depending on how and where they use their devices most.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Overall the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> network from EE was found to have a UK wide availability of 90%, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> came next on 82%, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/o2uk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">O2<\/a> scored 81% and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/threeuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Three UK<\/a> came last on just 67%. Sadly mobile reception in Wales remains the weakest of the four nations, while customers of Three UK appear to suffer the most from problems with availability.<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"line-height: 28px;\"><p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Nation-by-nation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> Availability<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>England <\/strong>\u2013 EE (91 percent), Vodafone (83 percent), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/o2uk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">O2<\/a> (82 percent), Three (69 percent)<br \/>\n<strong>Northern Ireland<\/strong> \u2013 EE (90 percent), O2 (83 percent), Vodafone (80 percent), Three (61 percent)<br \/>\n<strong>Scotland <\/strong>\u2013 EE (83 percent), O2 (80 percent), Vodafone (76 percent), Three (59 percent)<br \/>\n<strong>Wales<\/strong> \u2013 EE (79 percent), Vodafone (60 percent), O2 (60 percent), Three (54 percent)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>After that the data for other aspects of service has been boiled down to a simple score of 0 to 100 (i.e. the higher the score, the better the performance), although we don&#8217;t seem to get a clear summary of the scores for each nation and instead RootMetrics merely offers a UK wide overview with some generalisations.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Awards by Operator &amp; Nation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>* <strong>EE <\/strong>claimed the top mobile performance award outright in <strong>England<\/strong>, as well as for Network Speed and Data Performance, which \u2013 due to its dense population \u2013 resulted in EE\u2019s overall UK-wide win.
