Wireless infrastructure builder Arqiva<\/a> has signed their 12th London Borough street furniture concession contract, which gives them exclusive access rights to street furniture across Lambeth. As a result around 15,000 lampposts can now be used to improve 4G<\/a> Mobile network coverage.<\/p>\n

The contract itself, which is granted for 10 years, will be used to deploy more small cells (low-powered radio access nodes) around the borough and this in turn should enhance 4G<\/a> mobile coverage and capacity. In the future, these small cells could also become crucial to the delivery of 5G<\/a> services.<\/p>\n

Arqiva already holds similar contracts for other parts of London including Barnet, Brent, Camden, Hammersmith & Fulham, Haringey, Harrow, Hounslow, Islington, Merton, Richmond upon Thames and Wandsworth. On top of that they’ve signed related deals in Manchester, Southampton, Colchester, Eastbourne and Medway.<\/p>\n

Building on our strong heritage in this area, Arqiva is delighted to be working with Lambeth Council in leveraging their street infrastructure for the roll-out of small cells on behalf of the mobile operators in the years to come, when and where it will be needed to increase mobile coverage or capacity.<\/p>\n

It will allow Lambeth citizens, consumers, visitors and businesses to be better informed, entertained and connected on-the-go. It is also an integral key step in Arqiva\u2019s strategy to be central to the UK\u2019s telecommunications infrastructure – today in 4G<\/a>, tomorrow in 5G<\/a>.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
