Alternative network provider Voneus<\/a>, which has already deployed their 50Mbps capable fixed wireless broadband service into a number of UK rural areas, has welcomed Ofcom<\/a>’s decision to grant them Code Powers in order to help speed up their network expansion.<\/p>\n

Code Powers are often sought by infrastructure builders in order to help them simplify and speed-up the planning process, not least by reducing the number of licenses needed for civil engineering work. The related application was published last November 2017 (here<\/a>) and Ofcom<\/a> formally granted the approval a month ago (here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The pursuit of Code Powers is fairly common in this industry and so we don’t normally get press releases about it, but in this case Voneus<\/a> has decided to highlight their achievement.<\/p>\n

Alan Seldon, Customer Services Director of Voneus<\/a>, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“There are numerous rural communities across the UK that are still struggling to get access to superfast broadband; many are stuck on lengthy waiting lists, in the hope that broadband will eventually reach their neighbourhoods. These Code Powers will cut the wait for the communities we serve. They make it simpler for us to expand our infrastructure into new places, meaning we can more quickly bring superfast broadband to more homes and businesses.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Voneus<\/a>\u2019 fixed wireless broadband services are currently available in 50 rural communities in the UK, spanning Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cheshire, Devon, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Somerset, South Wales, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Wiltshire. The network has grown a lot over the past few months, not least thanks to the acquisition of several rivals (e.g. SugarNet and Cotswold Wireless).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
