Budget UK ISP TalkTalk has today launched a new “Great Connection Guarantee” for new (NOT existing) customers of their FTTC based “Faster Fibre” broadband services, which essentially enables them to leave penalty free within the first 30 days of their service going live “if they’re not fully satisfied“.

The new feature is being promoted as a complement to their existing Fixed Low Price Plans (FLPP), which they say offer a “100% guarantee that the broadband price quoted will stay the same throughout your Fixed Low Price Plan. Even if our costs go up we won’t pass them on to you.”

On top of that TalkTalk has already promised to offer those looking to re-contract “the same great deals as new customers.”

David Parslow, TalkTalk’s Group Marketing Director, said:

“We know that great connectivity really matters in modern households. That’s why we’re offering our great connection guarantee – for added peace of mind and reassurance. We’re confident customers will be satisfied as we’ve been investing in optimising our network and developing our most sophisticated router yet, with a Wi-Fi signal that can’t be beaten by any of the other major broadband providers.”

The new feature isn’t so much a guarantee as an extension of the usual cooling off period that some other ISPs already adopt, although instead of lasting for a couple of weeks they’ve extended it to effectively last for a full month.

We should point out that Ofcom’s recently revised Broadband Speed Code of Practice (details) can provide some additional / similar protection, at least it will if your service speeds fall well below the line’s minimum guaranteed download speed and the ISP fails to fix it.
