A third alternative network ISP – TrueSpeed<\/a> – has today been awarded with the Independent Networks Co-operative Association<\/a>‘s (INCA) new “Gold Standard Quality Mark<\/em>“, which aims to highlight AltNet broadband ISPs that adopt the best practices in performance, design and operations.<\/p>\n

The new quality mark, which attracts a joining fee of \u00a3500 +vat<\/strong> (on top of INCA\u2019s existing membership fees) and the same again for annual renewal, was officially launched in November last year (details<\/a>). Providers that pay this also have to go through a validation process in order to confirm that they abide by the “best practice<\/em>” criteria.<\/p>\n

At the time of last year’s announcement we noted that two ISPs – Hyperoptic<\/a> and WightFibre<\/a> – had already adopted the new mark. Today they’ve been joined by TrueSpeed<\/a>, which has been busy building a “full fibre<\/em>” (FTTP<\/a>) broadband network around rural parts of South West England.<\/p>\n

Malcolm Corbett, INCA CEO, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Our members are at the forefront of building high-quality future-proofed networks to deliver high-quality, future-proofed broadband services. Unfortunately, there is a lot of confusion caused by inaccurate information in the marketplace. Our industry has come together to combat this by creating the INCA Gold Standard scheme. For example, these first three accreditations recognise true full fibre connections conforming to international standards. Ultimately, when consumers see that a service provider is INCA Gold Standard Quality Mark accredited, they can be confident that they will receive the high standard of broadband promised to them.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Evan Wienburg, CEO of TrueSpeed<\/a>, added:<\/p>\n

“INCA is right on the money with its new Gold Standard Quality Mark scheme. We\u2019re thrilled to be recognised as only one of only three providers to have reached this tough full fibre certification standard as we roll out our network across harder to reach parts of the south west of England ignored by the national providers. <\/p>\n

For too long, national providers have been peddling fake fibre to customers, buoyed by the Advertising Standards Authority<\/a>\u2019s decision \u2013 hopefully soon to be overturned \u2013 to turn a blind eye to our national providers mis-selling part-copper services as \u2018fibre.\u2019<\/p>\n

The INCA quality mark will help businesses and consumers cut through the marketing hype and find a provider, like TrueSpeed<\/a>, that offers a full fibre service that will endure for generations.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
