{"id":1792,"date":"2012-10-03T10:57:06","date_gmt":"2012-10-03T09:57:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=1792"},"modified":"2012-10-03T10:57:06","modified_gmt":"2012-10-03T09:57:06","slug":"wales-uk-given-gbp20-million-broadband-funding-boost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2012\/10\/wales-uk-given-gbp20-million-broadband-funding-boost.html","title":{"rendered":"Wales UK Given GBP20 Million Broadband Funding Boost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/wales.gov.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Welsh Government<\/a> has today announced a further <strong>\u00a320m<\/strong> to help the existing investment of <strong>\u00a3425m<\/strong> deliver faster broadband ISP services, which will initially see 96% of homes and businesses in Wales being given access to download speeds of <strong>up to 80Mbps<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttc\">FTTC<\/a>) by the end of 2015.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The \u00a320m consists of an additional <strong>\u00a310m in 2014-15<\/strong> for faster broadband to &#8220;<em>ensure universal access by 2015<\/em>&#8220;, which also builds on another \u00a310m that is being allocated in 2013-14 for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2012\/07\/no-surprise-as-wales-uk-awards-superfast-broadband-contract-to-bt.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Next Generation Broadband Wales<\/strong><\/a> from the Centrally Retained Capital Fund.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Jane Hutt, Welsh Finance Minister, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>This \u00a3175m package of capital investment will make a real difference, by delivering longer term benefits for the economy and, vitally, better infrastructure for our key public services.
