The network, which will focus on delivering coverage within the city of <strong>Cheltenham<\/strong> (England) and some outlying areas, could potentially reach thousands of local homes and businesses.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s understood that the new network will follow on from last year\u2019s <strong>successful trial<\/strong> and the operators on-going network project for The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, where <strong>free Wi-Fi<\/strong> is offered to visitors and guests. The final product will deliver a variety of <strong>commercial packages<\/strong> with speeds of between 10Mbps and 100Mbps (Megabits per second).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Martin Stephenson, Head of Special Projects at PTG, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>All businesses and most homes need good quality broadband, but at the moment this is still not available across the UK. The system being installed by Pinnacle will deliver super high speeds via wireless at very competitive rates. Speeds previously only available via a fibre connection will be possible, and for some outlying villages within range of our service, it will bring quality broadband where there is currently only a very poor speed or no service at all<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A test of the service is expected to run over the next two weeks, with<strong> transmitters being situated in the city-centre<\/strong> and out towards the Racecourse. The intention of this is to help identify where there is most demand for the service and how it functions in such an environment. The service will be supported by several high capacity<strong> fibre optic <\/strong>links to the Internet.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently customers closest to a main transmitter will be able to log onto the system direct from a computer, tablet, smartphone or other device.
