ISP BT<\/a> Retail has quietly revamped its triple-play broadband, phone and television bundles with the new introduction of a FREE YouView<\/a> IPTV box (normally \u00a3299) that includes 500GB of storage for video recording and effectively appears to replace their old BTVision<\/strong> solution.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The two YouView<\/a> packages available are TV Essential<\/strong> and TV Unlimited<\/strong>. Both packages include Freeview (+4 channels in HD), 7 day catch-up and the 500GB YouView<\/a> box (i.e. roughly 120 hours of HD recording). The new TV bundles can be taken alongside either BT<\/a>’s standard or superfast broadband (BTInfinity<\/a>) products at a discount price.<\/p>\n

Separately TV Essential<\/strong> is a pay-as-you-go style solution that costs \u00a34 a month<\/strong> and includes access to Box office movies from \u00a33.50 per film or 50p per TV show. By comparison TV Unlimited<\/strong> (\u00a312.50 a month) also includes “unlimited<\/em>” access to all on-demand shows (sports, entertainment etc.)\u00a0and the Vision Film<\/strong> service.<\/p>\n

Prices for the full triple-play bundles start at just \u00a34 a month for the first six months but to save time we’re only going to list two of the top packages with an “unlimited<\/em>” usage allowance as this is the model most comparable to BT<\/a>\u2019s primary rivals (e.g. Sky Broadband<\/a> and Virgin Media<\/a>).<\/p>\n

On top of that it’s important to remember that phone line rental<\/strong> must also be paid, which costs from \u00a310.75 a month (when paid 12 months in advance) and Anytime Calls<\/strong> can be added for an extra \u00a34.90 a month. Note that a delivery fee of \u00a36.95 for the hardware is also applicable. Interestingly the bundles also have a confusing split-contract; 18 month minimum broadband\/phone term and 12 month minimum TV term.<\/p>\n

Similarly those who still want the Sky Sport’s<\/strong> service cannot take this with a YouView box from BT and must instead get one of the old BTVision+ box with Sport bundles. BT has made this aspect difficult to spot on their website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
