{"id":20022,"date":"2019-11-13T07:38:07","date_gmt":"2019-11-13T07:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=20022"},"modified":"2019-11-13T07:39:56","modified_gmt":"2019-11-13T07:39:56","slug":"isp-talktalk-delays-results-pending-fibrenation-uk-fttp-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2019\/11\/isp-talktalk-delays-results-pending-fibrenation-uk-fttp-deal.html","title":{"rendered":"ISP TalkTalk Delays Results Pending FibreNation UK FTTP Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Budget broadband ISP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a> intended to publish their latest financial results today but this has just been delayed as a result of &#8220;<em>advanced negotiations with interested parties<\/em>&#8221; over the future of their sibling <a href=\"https:\/\/fibrenation.co.uk\/\">FibreNation<\/a> business, which has been trying to drum up \u00a31.5bn of investment to support their UK &#8220;<em>full fibre<\/em>&#8221; roll-out.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At present the provider&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/fibrenation.co.uk\/\"><strong>FibreNation<\/strong><\/a> (wholesale company) sibling has a long-term aspiration to cover 3 million UK premises with a 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Home (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ftth\">FTTH<\/a>) broadband network. Excluding their existing rollout to 54,000 premises in York, FibreNation recently started its rollout to 61,000 premises in <strong>Dewsbury<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2019\/08\/talktalks-fibrenation-start-ftth-broadband-rollout-in-dewsbury-uk.html\">here<\/a>) and on top of that they aim to cover 100,000 premises across <strong>Harrogate<\/strong>, <strong>Knaresborough<\/strong> and <strong>Ripon<\/strong> in the future.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bq2\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> FibreNation is initially focused upon the Yorkshire region, where they&#8217;re investing \u00a3100m of their own money.<\/div>\n<p>The challenge for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a> has been in trying to gather enough investment to support their plans, which has so far attracted some interest from several possible investors (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2019\/09\/icon-and-macquarie-ponder-investment-in-talktalks-fibrenation-ftth.html\">here<\/a>) and one potential buyer in the shape of former York deployment partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">Cityfibre<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2019\/08\/goldman-sacks-and-cityfibre-sniffing-acquisition-of-talktalks-fibrenation.html\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>One possible problem above is that the ISP originally had a backer for it&#8217;s \u00a31.5bn FibreNation plan &#8211; <strong>Infracapital<\/strong> &#8211; but they allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2018\/11\/talktalk-unveil-uk-ftth-rollout-plan-as-broadband-users-top-4-23m.html\">pulled out<\/a> due to a disagreement over the value of the new network. As such it was considered a possibility that other investors could potentially run into a similar obstacle when they reached the same stage of negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a> wouldn&#8217;t be delaying their results unless a major announcement was imminent.
