Broadband ISP WightFibre<\/a>, which is currently investing \u00a335m to rollout a new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH<\/a>) network to over 60,000 of the 70,000 homes on the Isle of Wight (South Coast of Hampshire) by the end of 2021, has today become the latest UK provider to launch a Whole Home WiFi<\/a> service using Plume’s platform.<\/p>\n

Some may recall that TalkTalk<\/a> was the first ISP to offer this earlier in 2019, although it’s since become possible to purchase Plume’s mesh style system independently of any ISP. The product essentially consists of several “SuperPod<\/em><\/strong>” devices (similar size to plug-in WiFi<\/a> extenders), one of which must connect directly into your broadband router via an Ethernet cable, and an app to help manage them.<\/p>\n

The service also adds customisable guest access for your network, as well as parental controls and various AI security features. Under WightFibre<\/a>’s deal every “full fibre<\/em>” customer will receive a Plume SuperPod™ included in their basic broadband package. For an additional \u00a39 per month<\/strong>, the ISP will provide up to 2 further Plume SuperPods (total of 3) together with “guaranteed WiFi<\/a> coverage throughout your home or your money back<\/em>.”<\/p>\n
