The deal will see them assisting the telecoms giant in deploying and maintaining both fibre optic and copper broadband services across Hampshire and Berkshire.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The contract &#8211; potentially worth over <strong>\u00a315m<\/strong> &#8211; is set to run for an initial 5 year term and, alongside the ONSA works, Kier will also have the opportunity to bid for future works under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a>&#8217;s <strong>Fibre-to-the-Premises<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a>) framework. At present the operator is deploying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a> to cover 4 million UK premises by March 2021 and then they have an ambition for 15 million by around 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Kier group has also worked with various other broadband ISPs and network builders, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/gigaclear\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Gigaclear<\/a>, and have recently been quite busy around Devon and Somerset. The ONSA is essentially a framework for trusted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/openreach\" target=\"_blank\">Openreach<\/a> field engineering partners.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Barry McNicholas, Kier Group MD for Utilities and Rail, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This new award is a great opportunity to play a key role within Openreach\u2019s current and future ambitions.<\/p>\n<p>We have a long history of success in the telecoms sector and are responsible for the installation of over one million meters of fibre optic network cabling each year.
