Mobile operator Three UK<\/a> has today announced that after 9 long years their CEO, Dave Dyson, is to step down from his role for “personal reasons<\/em>.” Replacing him will be the current CEO of Three Ireland, Robert Finnegan, who from 30th March 2020 will act as CEO for both operators (talk about a workaholic!).<\/p>\n

The move could almost be described as the end of an era for Three UK<\/a>, except for the fact that Dyson will continue to serve in all of his current Board roles and as a senior executive resource to Three’s parent company CK Hutchison Group Telecom Holdings (aka – ‘CK Hutchison Group Telecom’ or simply ‘CKHGT’).<\/p>\n

In today’s statement Three UK<\/a> said that one of the groups “core objectives<\/em>” has been to move progressively towards a “greater alignment of Three Group Europe\u2019s businesses and platforms. With the merger between Three and O2<\/a> in Ireland nearly completed, and the opportunity to appoint a new CEO of Three UK, now is the time to take the next step towards greater alignment<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Robert has been Three Ireland’s CEO since the company’s launch in 2005, growing the operator’s market share from 1% to 36% in that time.<\/p>\n

Canning Fok, MD of CKHGT, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We are always looking to create competitive advantages that support our growth aspirations. 5G<\/a> is an exciting opportunity for both businesses and it\u2019s a good time to pool our resources across the UK and Ireland to do that. I would like to thank David for his significant contribution as the CEO of Three UK and I look forward to continuing to work with him both in his Board roles and as a senior executive resource to CKHGT going forward.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Robert Finnegan, CEO of Three Ireland, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“With the integration of the Three and O2<\/a> business in Ireland largely complete, we now have a solid platform to look at the next phase of our development. Collaborating more and progressively aligning operations and platforms with Three UK is an obvious opportunity and I am excited to be taking on this challenge as the CEO of both operations.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
