{"id":2304,"date":"2012-12-13T10:55:24","date_gmt":"2012-12-13T10:55:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=2304"},"modified":"2012-12-13T10:56:09","modified_gmt":"2012-12-13T10:56:09","slug":"ee-uk-reveals-4g-mobile-broadband-expansion-plans-for-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2012\/12\/ee-uk-reveals-4g-mobile-broadband-expansion-plans-for-2013.html","title":{"rendered":"EE UK Details 4G Mobile Broadband City Expansion Plans for 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mobile operator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> (4GEE) has this morning announced that its new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> (LTE at 1800MHz) based superfast Mobile Broadband network will be expanded to cover a further <strong>17 new cities<\/strong> in the United Kingdom by <strong>March 2013<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At present <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> intends to enable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> in <strong>18 cities by the end of 2012<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2012\/09\/everything-everywhere-launch-ee-brand-for-uk-4g-mobile-and-fibre-broadband.html\" target=\"_blank\">the original plan was for 16<\/a>), which will cover a third of the UK population. In the first three months of 2013 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\">4G<\/a> service will then be expanded to Bradford, Chelmsford, Coventry, Doncaster, Dudley, Leicester, Luton, Newport, Reading, Rotherham, St Albans, Sunderland, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Watford, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton.<\/p>\n<p>Overall the new coverage will bring 4G to approximately <strong>four million more people<\/strong>, with the network eventually expected to reach <strong>98% of UK people by 2014<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Olaf Swantee, EEs Chief Executive Officer, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>By the end of the first quarter of 2013, 4G will be available in 35 towns and cities across the UK, making superfast mobile accessible to thousands more customers and businesses every day. We\u2019re delighted with the progress of the 4G rollout \u2013 we are improving the network every day, delivering superfast mobile to more and more people right across metropolitan areas, whether they\u2019re using their devices outdoors or in their homes and offices. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This has struck a chord with businesses in particular, with great demand being seen. We\u2019re delighted to already be powering large, medium and small businesses with 4G<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The operator has also worked to upgrade their <strong>mobile backhaul<\/strong> (capacity) to support the new service speeds by connecting their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/3g\">3G<\/a> and 4G masts to faster <strong>Gigabit Ethernet<\/strong> connections, which aims to ensure a &#8220;<em>great quality of experience, high speed and low latency<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EE<\/a> claim to be &#8220;<em>significantly increasing speeds<\/em>&#8221; on its older <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/3g\">3G<\/a> network by upgrading to <strong>DC-HSPA<\/strong> technology.
