Hampshire-based UK ISP Giganet<\/a> has today launched two new phone services for their home broadband customers (i.e. Home Phone and Virtual Landline), which allows customers to keep their existing number and handset, albeit without the need for expensive BT<\/a> phone lines.<\/p>\n

As Giganet tends to sell “Ultrafast Full Fibre Home Broadband<\/em>” packages via Openreach<\/a>’s Fibre-to-the-Premises<\/strong> (FTTP<\/a>) network then the new Home Phone<\/strong> service will undoubtedly be a VoIP style solution. Prices for this start at just \u00a34.90 per month for PAYG calling, while Call Saver bundles including calls to UK landlines, UK mobiles and low-cost international calls are available for a few pounds more.<\/p>\n

As an alternative, the Virtual Landline<\/strong> option gives customers “the choice to do away with their home phone altogether, keep their existing home number and have all calls directed to their mobile phone for a very low monthly price<\/em>” (these calls can be answered anywhere, not just at home, and callers can leave voicemails too). The price for this starts from \u00a33.49 per month for PAYG calling.<\/p>\n

Matthew Skipsey, Head of Giganet, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“When we launched our full fibre only broadband service, the feedback we got was truly outstanding. Customers valued our simple approach and personalised customer care, but the lack of a home phone service was a massive barrier for us. While many customers hardly use a landline telephone, they like the comfort of having one and keeping their numbers.<\/p>\n

This is why we launched our home packages to allow our customers to keep their home number without the hassle of expensive line rentals or even handsets if it\u2019s not required. By offering great value phone options including a mobile divert option with reliable fibre connectivity, we\u2019re on track to become one of the best UK fibre providers.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Giganet appears to have priced their home phone service quite aggressively to be competitive in the market.
