London focused broadband ISP CommunityFibre<\/a>, which is currently rolling out a 3Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP<\/a>) network to a good chunk of the UK’s capital city, has today launched a new IP-based (VoIP) Home Phone service to optionally accompany their internet access packages.<\/p>\n

The new package – called ‘Everyday Landlines & Mobiles<\/strong>‘ – costs \u00a310 per month (on a 12 or 24-month term), which gets you unlimited calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles – with standard home phone features all-inclusive (e.g. voice mail, call waiting, forwarding and barring). New and existing CommunityFibre<\/a> customers will receive their “first 3 months for free<\/em>“, provided they sign-up by 4th February 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As with a lot of IP based voice services from consumer ISPs, customers will still be able to use their existing home phone handset (a lot of modern broadband routers include a phone port that also doubles as an Analogue Terminal Adapter<\/strong>) and can keep their existing telephone number.<\/p>\n

The ISP adds that their new service will also be “enriched<\/em>” by a Home Phone mobile app, enabling customers to make and receive calls over WiFi<\/a> or mobile broadband (4G<\/a> \/ 5G<\/a>), which is available today via the Android (Google Play) and iOS (iPhone) App stores. The call allowance for this is included in each customer’s standard call package, so calls made from a home phone or the app will be covered in the monthly fee (handy if you go abroad too).<\/p>\n

Graeme Oxby, CEO of Community Fibre, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are committed to keeping our communities connected and we are proud\u202fthat\u202four efforts\u202fare\u202frecognised by\u202four\u202fcommunity\u202fwith the\u202f#1\u202franking\u202fwe hold\u202ffor\u202finternet provider\u202fon Trustpilot\u202fand the recent award win by the ISPA<\/a> as the Best Consumer ISP.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We should point out that this service also includes a feature that sends a notification to your email when there\u2019s a new voicemail. Furthermore, an engineer visit is not required to get the service installed (it’s self-install). In the year to come, CF said they’re also committed to bring about the inclusion of international calling (not part of the launch service).<\/p>\n

Separately, the Netgem<\/strong> powered Pay TV service that we reported on last year (here<\/a>) has finally gone live. The service attracts an additional monthly fee of \u00a310 on a 24-month term (inc. the Netgem 4K TV box) or \u00a315 for a 12-month term. New and existing CF customers will receive a 3-month free subscription to the TV service and a 1-year subscription to Amazon<\/a> Prime, including full access to Prime Video in 4K if they sign up by 4th February 2021.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the provider is still working to cover 1 million homes and businesses with their multi-gigabit speed “full fibre<\/em>” network by the end of 2023, which is being supported by c.\u00a3500m<\/strong> of private investment (here<\/a>).
