{"id":25916,"date":"2021-02-12T09:38:27","date_gmt":"2021-02-12T09:38:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=25916"},"modified":"2021-02-12T09:40:06","modified_gmt":"2021-02-12T09:40:06","slug":"nperf-ranks-ee-top-in-2021-benchmark-of-uk-mobile-networks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/02\/nperf-ranks-ee-top-in-2021-benchmark-of-uk-mobile-networks.html","title":{"rendered":"nPerf Ranks EE Top in 2021 Benchmark of UK Mobile Networks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>French company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nperf.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nPerf<\/a> has today published the results of their annual crowd-sourced data study into UK mobile broadband (<a class=\"shortlink shortlink-116 shortlink-chref\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/4g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"4g\" data-chref=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/broadband_mobile.php\">4G<\/a>, <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-166 shortlink-chref\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/5g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"5G Mobile Technology\" data-chref=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/broadband_mobile.php\">5G<\/a>) performance, which finds that <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-43\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"ee home broadband\">EE<\/a> has unseated rival <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-90\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"vodafone\">Vodafone<\/a> from last year&#8217;s top spot and is now named as the best operator across most of the performance categories.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In this study nPerf&#8217;s results appear to be based off <strong>133,408 connection tests<\/strong> (including speed, web browsing and streaming tests), which were made via their dedicated mobile app (iOS, Android). The data was then aggregated to establish a performance benchmark (i.e. the final results are based off 96,712 relevant tests performed by 11,350 users).<\/p>\n<p>The nPerf score goal aims to reflect the customer experience and is based on the &#8220;<em>five most important<\/em>&#8221; KPI&#8217;s (download speed, upload speed, latency, streaming and browsing). As usual there are caveats to this sort of crowd-sourced data, such as the fact that it could be impacted by any limitations of the devices being used and it hampers the ability to adopt a common type of hardware in order to establish a solid baseline of performance.<\/p>\n<p>Last year (2020) saw <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-90\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"vodafone\">Vodafone<\/a> pick-up the win with a total of 78,284 nPoints (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2020\/02\/nperf-publish-2020-study-of-uk-mobile-networks-vodafone-best.html\">here<\/a>) and strong results across the key categories (e.g. average speeds of 50.35Mbps download and 13.66Mbps upload etc.). By comparison the winner in 2021 has been named as <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-43\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/eebroadband\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"ee home broadband\">EE<\/a>, which scored a total of 78,297 nPoints (e.g. average speeds of 59.80Mbps download and 12.38Mbps upload etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-80\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/threeuk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"three uk\">Three UK<\/a> was the most improved operator overall and saw their nPoints score jump from 57,223 last year to 64,397 this year, with big gains in internet speed and latency performance.
