{"id":26071,"date":"2021-02-25T10:43:25","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T10:43:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=26071"},"modified":"2021-02-25T10:48:21","modified_gmt":"2021-02-25T10:48:21","slug":"ms3-prepare-70km-rollout-of-full-fibre-broadband-in-hull-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/02\/ms3-prepare-70km-rollout-of-full-fibre-broadband-in-hull-uk.html","title":{"rendered":"MS3 Prepare 70km Rollout of Full Fibre Broadband in Hull UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Communications provider <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ms-3.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MS3<\/a>, which runs an independent Dark Fibre and business focused broadband network in Hull (East Yorkshire), has informed us that they are about to embark on a 70km long &#8220;<em>city-wide expansion<\/em>&#8221; of their &#8220;<em>full fibre<\/em>&#8221; network and this will also be used to serve local homes.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The project, which upon completion will give the company a total fibre network footprint of <strong>130km<\/strong> across <strong>Hull,<\/strong> is expected to attract an investment of around <strong>\u00a33.5 million<\/strong>. The expansion itself will predominantly focus on parts of East and North Hull.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ms3\" target=\"_blank\">MS3<\/a> informed ISPreview.co.uk that their new network expansion would also enable them to &#8220;<em>begin the deployment of fibre to homes<\/em>&#8221; across Hull. Further details on all this are expected &#8220;<em>shortly<\/em>&#8220;, although the first two areas are already said to have been identified.<\/p>\n<p>The move should also provide some extra competition for local incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/kcom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">KCOM<\/a>, which has already completed quite an extensive deployment of <strong>Fibre-to-the-Premises<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a>) broadband to cover nearly all of the local homes and businesses.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ms3\" target=\"_blank\">MS3<\/a>&#8217;s network expansion work is due to start in March 2021, with the first 11km set to be completed by April 2021 and the full 70km build set to finish in <strong>April 2022<\/strong>. A number of new jobs are also expected to be created alongside this, such as in their Sales, Engineering and Technical departments.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Tony Hales, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ms3\" target=\"_blank\">MS3<\/a> Networks Managing Director, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is an important milestone for MS3, we are working with key partners to drive our network reach to new parts of Hull and will be providing many homes and businesses with a choice of ultrafast cost effective full-fibre services.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At this point some of our readers may recall that in 2016 MS3 also spawned a residential focused ISP called <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.connecthull.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">connectHull<\/a><\/strong>, which aimed to take on local incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/kcom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">KCOM<\/a> by building a Gigabit capable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a> broadband network. The first &#8220;<em>trial<\/em>&#8221; homes went live in January 2017 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2017\/01\/first-homes-live-ms3s-connecthull-ftth-broadband-network-hull-uk.html\">here<\/a>), with the network covering around 1,200 premises, but no further updates were issued.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2019 we were told that connectHull was still installing services in the city centre, but those were more focused on business connectivity than residential solutions.
