Hull-based UK broadband ISP KCOM<\/a> has followed last month’s sale of their off-net Eclipse Internet base (here<\/a>), which went to the Global 4 Group<\/a>, by selling off its national ICT business to Nasstar, which is an established managed services specialist provider.<\/p>\n

The move is said to have followed an in-depth strategic review of their national business to look at opportunities for its development (this began in 2019), as well as its fit within KCOM<\/a>’s long-term strategy. The operator expects to complete the sale of their ICT business over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Dale Raneberg, CEO of KCOM<\/a>, said: “We have agreed the sale of our national business to Nasstar, a UK provider of managed communications and cloud services to large businesses and public sector organisations. Our regional wholesale and retail operations in Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire will remain part of KCOM<\/a> and the focus of our business<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

The move was not unexpected as Macquarie, which now owns KCOM, had already been intending to carve up the KCOM business in order to focus on its core network and fibre expansion (here<\/a>). KCOM is currently in the process of investing \u00a3100m to build their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP<\/a>) broadband network across more of East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
