{"id":27646,"date":"2021-07-08T08:27:21","date_gmt":"2021-07-08T07:27:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=27646"},"modified":"2021-07-08T08:29:36","modified_gmt":"2021-07-08T07:29:36","slug":"12000-council-homes-in-poole-to-get-cityfibre-fttp-broadband","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/07\/12000-council-homes-in-poole-to-get-cityfibre-fttp-broadband.html","title":{"rendered":"12000 Council Homes in Poole to Get CityFibre FTTP Broadband"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new wayleave agreement has been reach between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">CityFibre<\/a> and the Bournemouth,\u202fChristchurch\u202fand Poole Council (BCP Council) in Dorset (England), which will see the operator expand their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a>) broadband ISP network to include 12,000 council-owned homes.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">CityFibre<\/a> is already investing \u00a330m to expand their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a> network across Poole and Christchurch (\u00a365m if you include their existing Bournemouth build), which is being supported by civil engineering firm <strong>CCN Communications Ltd<\/strong>. Work on that started earlier this year (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/03\/cityfibre-start-fttp-broadband-rollout-for-poole-and-christchurch.html\">here<\/a>) and the expansion to include council properties is thus an important boost.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bq2\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Wayleaves are complex and costly legal agreements, which grant special access to land or buildings for the deployment and management of new infrastructure.<\/div>\n<p>The deployment forms part of their wider \u00a34bn programme, which aims to cover 1 million UK premises with their alternative <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/fttp\">FTTP<\/a> network by the end of 2021 (over 650,000 have already been reached) and then 8 million premises should be &#8220;<em>substantially completed<\/em>&#8221; across 285 cities, towns and villages &#8211; c.30% of the UK &#8211; by the end of 2025 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/03\/cityfibre-name-279-uk-areas-for-4bn-gigabit-broadband-rollout.html\">here<\/a>). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/cityfibre\" target=\"_blank\">CityFibre<\/a> may yet extend this target to 10m premises (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/05\/cityfibre-ponders-full-fibre-rollout-to-10-million-uk-premises.html\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The new network is being supported by various ISPs, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> (<strong><a class=\"shortlink shortlink-89 shortlink shortlink-89 shortlink shortlink-89\" title=\"vodafone gigafast broadband\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafonegigafast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gigafast Broadband<\/a><\/strong>), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/zen_internet\" target=\"_blank\">Zen Internet<\/a>, Giganet and others, but they aren\u2019t all live or available in every location yet (we don&#8217;t yet know which ones will serve Poole).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Greg\u202fMesch, CEO at\u202fCityFibre,\u202fsaid:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have made fantastic progress rolling out our network, first in Bournemouth, and now rapidly expanding across Christchurch and Poole. This has been achieved through close collaboration with local stakeholders at the council as well as our build partner in the area.<\/p>\n<p>However, as we scale at pace, it\u2019s important to make sure we help everyone in the area level up at the same time.
