Hull-based UK ISP KCOM<\/a> has today confirmed that thousands of premises in the two North Lincolnshire communities of Crowle and Haxey will be the next to benefit from their \u00a3100m network expansion, which is currently extending the reach of their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP<\/a>) broadband network.<\/p>\n

The operator’s new demand-led network expansion programme is currently adding around 79,000 extra full fibre premises to their existing coverage, which will complement the c.200,000 premises that were built across Hull and parts of East Yorkshire a few years ago.<\/p>\n

So far KCOM<\/a>’s expansion has already completed a number of big builds to locations including Driffield<\/strong> (6,500 properties), Market Weighton<\/strong> (3,400), Nafferton<\/strong> (1,100), Pocklington<\/strong> (4,500), Howden<\/strong> (2,100) and Withernsea<\/strong> (2,900).<\/p>\n

On top of that they’ve also started deployments for Goole<\/strong> (9,000), Hornsea<\/strong> (3,900), Bridlington<\/strong> (12,000), Barton-on-Humber<\/strong> (9,000), Brigg<\/strong> (3,500), Selby<\/strong> (9,100), Barrow upon Humber<\/strong> and Goxhill<\/strong> (2,100 combined), and Bishop Burton<\/strong> (200 properties).<\/p>\n

Additional deployments have since been confirmed for Melbourne<\/strong> (300), Broughton<\/strong> (2,100), Scawby<\/strong> (750), Epworth<\/strong> (2,100), Hibaldstow<\/strong> (1,000), Messingham<\/strong> (1,600) and Kirton in Lindsey<\/strong> (1,500) – some of these are already in the survey or early build stages.<\/p>\n

The good news today is that KCOM have also been able to add Haxey<\/strong> and Crowle<\/strong> in North Lincolnshire. Indeed, the build for those two locations has even been “brought forward several months<\/em>” in order to coincide with road resurfacing work by the North Lincolnshire Council<\/strong> (i.e. putting fibre in at the same time saves money and minimises disruption).<\/p>\n

Dale Raneberg, KCOM Chief Executive, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Our team is based locally and working very closely with North Lincolnshire Council to minimise any disruption caused by street works and to maximise the benefits of delivering our full fibre broadband to as many communities as possible, as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n

We have adapted our rollout schedule across North Lincolnshire so that we can work in partnership with the council and install our fibre network before planned works to resurface roads and pavements commence.<\/p>\n

Many of the North Lincolnshire communities we are connecting have suffered from slower broadband speeds and lack of investment for years, but our full fibre broadband will open up a huge number of opportunities for people at home as well as local businesses.<\/p>\n

We are really encouraged by the level of interest we are seeing in Crowle and Haxey which shows there is a demand for quality broadband.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
